Outcome statuses

Use this reference data to create the statuses of course outcome records, enabling you to progress level course outcome records attached to a learner’s record.

Outcome Statuses reference data

The Outcome Statuses reference data consists of the following fields.

This field Holds this information...
Status Code to identify the status in EBS. This is non-editable once saved.
Short Description Short description to identify the status in EBS.
Long Description Long description to identify the status in EBS.
Active Whether the outcome status is active.
Contributes to Award Outcome Whether a course outcome with this status is included when calculating whether an award has been achieved.
Viewable By Learners Whether course outcomes with this status can be viewed in Ontrack Staff Hub.
Linked Role Allows institutions to limit use of this status to a specific user-defined custom role.
Bad Debt Check Whether an award can be progressed to this status if a learner has bad debt, as defined in Institution Settings.
NZ Include in SDR Whether course outcomes with this status are included in the SDR Course Completion file.
NZ Submit to NZQA Whether course outcomes with this status are submitted to the NZQA.

The following section describes the recommended assessment status reference data:

Each outcome has a status value that defines whether an outcome in the given status is viewable by a learner.

The Contributes to Award Outcome and Bad Debt Check settings are utilised by the Awards Manager module and are not relevant to markbook.

It is expected that an outcome will progress through various statuses during its life-cycle (that is: outcome statuses are changed either when assessment results are set in markbook or set manually in the Outcomes grid in Central).

The following list is a representative set of outcome statuses and accompanying flags:

  • Open
    • Viewable by Learners = N
  • Pending
    • Viewable by Learners = N
  • Checked
    • Viewable by Learners = Y
  • Endorsed
    • Viewable by Learners = N
  • Released
    • Viewable by Learners = N

The corresponding institution settings for Awards are:

  • Default Outcome Confirmed Status set as Released
  • Default Outcome Marked Status set as Checked
  • Default Outcome Status set as Open
